November 25th Assouline Books
Issue #38

At our flagship location at 98 Yorkville Ave we have an Assouline book boutique right in our store.   Assouline has taken books and elevated them to an art form, unlike most art books they are much more than just pretty pictures.   Assouline books entertain, amuse, educate and intrigue.  Here is the pick of our current favourites.

THE ALLURE OF BEAUTY

The Allure of Beauty looks at Hollywood from the 1930's to present and highlights females who have proven their femininity, strength, and talent.

LOST FISH:

We also have a great book called Lost Fish.  This book has more than two hundred richly colored, painstakingly detailed antique illustrations.   These were the illustrations that inspired the great naturalists such as Linnaeus, Buffon, and his successor, the Comte de Lacepede.

VINTAGE COCKTAILS:

There is also a fabulous book on cocktails, called Vintage Cocktails. This is a collection of drinks, with photos and ingredient lists that were all photographed at the famous Carlyle Bar in Manhattan. This has a spiral binding so it is perfect for use at the bar. Exactly what you need to concoct amazing drinks this holiday season.

If you can't afford the shoes and the clothes from Sex In The City, you can always console yourself with Carrie's drink.

ASSOULINE ULTIMATE COLLECTION: BARBIE

Celebrating Barbie's 50's birthday, Assouline has created the ultimate in Barbie literature as they explore the cultural icon.  Barbie took over the world in 1959 with little more than a white-and-black striped bathing suit and a pair of high heels. Today, Mattel sells three Barbies a second, and children in more than one hundred and fifty countries know her name.
